Diebold, one of the largest global providers of automated teller machines (ATMs), created a tablet-based application called Conductor that bank branch personnel use to monitor ATM usage. Diebold developed and runs Conductor in Microsoft Azure, which helped Diebold meet its three-month time-to-market target and gives Diebold an easy way to introduce the app globally. Conductor gives financial institutions a low-cost, easy-to-use tool to help transform their branches by migrating more transactions to self-service terminals.

Temenos, a global banking software provider, wanted to build a cloud-based version of its existing on-premises T24 core banking application to give customers functionality in the cloud. By developing its new version on the Microsoft Azure platform, Temenos can now offer cloud banking capabilities to financial services companies that have traditionally used on-premises solutions, and it can help them meet strict security and compliance requirements. Additionally, Temenos customers can quickly access the cloud version of T24, and they have more flexibility and scalability.
Cisco and ADEC took an architectural approach to transforming the school system’s network and data center. This approach began with thoroughly understanding what ADEC wanted to achieve and determining the IT strategy that would be needed to implement its vision. The Cisco team reviewed ADEC’s existing infrastructure and security strategy against best practices. Based on this assessment, they developed a conceptual Borderless Network Architecture, network roadmap, strategy, and detailed design for connecting the 270 public schools.

With so many diverse security requirements and areas to protect, Baylor College of Medicine needed a highly versatile, manageable network security defense system. The college turned to Cisco. Baylor has long used an endto- end Cisco network. Over the past several years, the IT team has employed more and more Cisco technologies for network security, which include solutions for endpoint protection, remote access connectivity, security administration, and more.

At the high school, eight Cisco Catalyst 3850 Switches are placed around campus to be close to the Cisco wireless access points. The school connects to a Cisco Catalyst 4500 Switch in the district office over fiber, by way of a Cisco Integrated Services Router (ISR). Other schools also connect to the district office through Cisco ISRs.
American Pacific Mortgage was faced with the challenge of increasing employee efficiency through computer training on the Calyx® Point® (loan origination system), ACT! (contact management software) and various automated loan submission systems. With the company’s existing program, their corporate trainers provided onsite classroom learning events for their critical business software. Since the training team was relatively small in number, they were not able to meet the demands of serving the company’s multiple locations. Qualcomm realized in the early 2000s that without virtualization, it would not be able to build IT capacity quickly enough to respond to its vast growth. Qualcomm also understood that virtualization would reduce the cost of its expansion, as it would cut the datacenter footprint required as well as cooling and heating costs. Qualcomm had prior success with Red Hat as it used Red Hat Enterprise Linux to run a diverse set of applications and workloads, file-serving and database workloads, and customer-service applications--most of which were Java-based. In the first five years since deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Qualcomm experienced a 600 percent growth with its servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Symantec implemented a software-defined data center architecture based on VMware vCloud® Suite to speed creation of new test environments. It is currently scaled to support more than 200,000 virtual machines, one of the world’s largest software-defined data center deployments based on VMware vCloud Suite to date.
Disney Interactive entertains kids, families and Disney enthusiasts everywhere with interactive entertainment across all digital media platforms, including mobile, social and console games, online virtual worlds and Disney.com and the “Moms and Family” network of websites. When the Disney Interactive team considered building a private cloud, achieving faster time-to-market for its products and applications, reducing the total cost of ownership of its infrastructure and increasing operational efficiencies in its datacenter were the three critical goals. Disney Interactive was looking for a solution suitable for the company’s media/entertainment markets and able to provide the flexibility specific to its R&D and innovation efforts. The goal was to free engineering staff by empowering them with tools to automate many of the operational tasks that were done manually. Disney Interactive was also looking to eliminate discrepancies between its development and production environments and achieve consistency in its platform.

Being a highly regarded educational institution, it is not surprising that Cornell would value employee training, however, having staff in training when your job is to keep the entire technology infrastructure up and running is not easy.
Kendle, one of the world’s leading global clinical research organizations, was challenged with the same training issues faced by most organizations: how to measure a return on their training investment, how to get employees the specific skills needed - quickly, and how to maintain productivity during training.
Dunkin Donuts purchased a new online ordering system and needed a new training program to train 2,500 Dunkin Donuts locations across the U.S. in 3 months. New Horizons worked with Dunkin Donuts to create a custom training course that consisted of two hours of instruction and two hours of hands-on practice in order to increase comprehension and retention of the material.
Blattner Brunner is a full service advertising and marketing agency, with three office locations across the United States housing approximately 150 PC workstations. Due to the large number of remote personnel that need to stay connected with the various functions and departments within the agency, Blattner Brunner made the decision to implement the Microsoft Office 2007 suite as its core integration and workflow management platform.
Analysis showed that a 1-800 Flowers worker who completed the New Horizons training improved their productivity by 15 minutes per day. Over a year, that is the equivalent of 15,000 hours of productivity savings which equates to $276,000 in cost savings due to the training. The performance gain is nearly a 6 to 1 benefit to cost ratio.
New Horizons created a comprehensive Information Assurance certification training plan for SOUTHCOMM in compliance with DoD Directive 8570. The private course was delivered locally in a 6-day bootcamp format consisting of daily assessments and exam cramming sessions. The solution met the primary goal of providing validation through certification in a very short time-frame. In fact, the program was so successful that all personnel completing the program achieved certification on the first attempt.
New Horizons Professional Services team worked with Bowne to tailor a solution to their specific business, learning and learning management needs. With New Horizons as their training partner, Bowne was able to save $54,000 in training costs and was able to concentrate all of their efforts on the software conversion. Additionally, through the contracting of trainers with similar skill sets delivering the same content at locations across the country, Bowne received the added benefit of consistency in content and delivery at a nationwide level.
Wood Personnel assigned their computer specialist to migrate the company’s network and deploy necessary software. Once migrated and deployed, the computer specialist would need the advanced knowledge for the long-term network management. Wood provided training through New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, where the specialist gained extensive skills on the Microsoft Windows® Platform, server software and earned her Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credential.
Since this initiative represented the first organized training for The Cafaro Company in its 50 year history, they needed a training partner that could manage the program starting with the creation of course materials all the way to the delivery of training. New Horizons created custom course materials to fit within Cafaro’s standard operating procedures.
