CompTIA Security+ Certification

Overview

Security+ is a vendor-neutral security certification program that enables individuals to acquire the initial skills needed to become an Information Security Professional. CompTIA Security+ validates knowledge of communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, operational security, and general security concepts.

Who's It For?

Security+ is geared towards individuals who are new to Information Security and are seeking a wide breadth of fundamental security knowledge.  This exam validates their mastery of the fundamental skills and knowledge needed by an Information Security Professional:

• General Security Concepts
• Communication Security
• Infrastructure Security
• Basics of Cryptology
• Operational and Organizational Security

Prerequisites

Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Security+ candidates have at least two years on-the-job networking experience, with an emphasis on security. The CompTIA Network+ certification is also recommended.
