CCNA Version 2.0 Update Provides Great Opportunities
On March 26, 2013, Cisco announced a significant update to their associate-level certification programs. In order to better meet the requirements of technologically evolving job roles, the previous foundational CCNA certification has been redesigned to become the more concentrated "CCNA - Routing and Switching". Courseware and exams for ICND1, ICND2 and CCNAX have been updated to better align with the most current technology needs such as IPv6, advanced troubleshooting and updated software on Cisco routers and switches.
These changes provide great opportunities and benefits for New Horizons students.
CCNA Routing and Switching, as well as CCNA Security, CCNA Voice, CCNA Wireless and CCNA SP Operations, are considered advanced technology certifications. A certification candidate previously needed to pass two exams to receive the CCNA, then a third exam to attain one of the advanced certifications. It is now possible for candidates to proceed directly to one of the advanced certifications to validate more specific job skills in an accelerated manner, with only two exams. It is also possible to attain the CCNA Routing and Switching certification by passing one composite exam.
Please note, the ICND v1.1 courses are valid and will run concurrent with the new 2.0 versions, until the v1.1 exams and corresponding courses reach End of Life (EOL) on September 20, 2013.
